From the Principal

Erica Naughton

Erica Naughton is the newly appointed Principal of Edward Williams Elementary School in Mount Vernon, New York. A dedicated educator and instructional leader, she brings extensive experience in teaching, coaching, curriculum development, and school administration.

Prior to her appointment as principal, Ms. Naughton served as the Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Instruction and the 11th Grade Assistant Principal at Mount Vernon High School. She also served as the Girls' Varsity Basketball Coach, demonstrating her commitment to student development both inside and outside of the classroom. She began her career as a mathematics teacher and later advanced to Mathematics Department Chair, where she led instructional initiatives focused on improving student achievement and strengthening teaching practices.

Throughout her career, Ms. Naughton has been recognized for her leadership in curriculum and instruction, data-driven decision making, and student support systems. She has played a key role in advancing academic improvement initiatives, supporting professional learning for teachers, implementing intervention programs for students, and fostering a positive and inclusive school culture. Her work has focused on ensuring equitable opportunities and high expectations for all learners.

Ms. Naughton has also contributed to the broader educational community as a presenter and panelist, including participation in the LES x PHS Educational Leadership and Trauma-Informed Practices Panel, where she shared insights on leadership, student well-being, and creating supportive learning environments.
