Students have frightfully good time at Edward Williams School's Trunk or Treat

Edward Williams School celebrated Halloween in spirited style with a fun-filled Trunk or Treat event. Students dressed in spooktacular costumes, went trunk-or-treating from car to car, played games and joined in a variety of activities, including the mummy wrap, candy toss, and much more! Adding to the frightfully good time was a special appearance by none other than Super (De)mario Strickland. Check out the photo gallery!

Mount Vernon Department of Public Works brings gifts to Edward Williams School

On Wednesday, December 18, 2024, all students at Edward Williams School were surprised with gifts provided by Commissioner Damani Bush and the Mount Vernon Department of Public Works. Crewmates of the DPW arrived early Wednesday morning with boxes of stuffed animals, sports equipment, and toys to distribute to students in the media center. Since 2021, Edward Williams has partnered with the DPW to bring holiday cheer and joy to their students every holiday season. Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard also joined to celebrate the holidays with students at Williams. 

Lady Knights commit an act of kindness by delivering gifts to Edward Williams second-grade students

“Thank you, Lady Knights,” students of Althea Simon’s second-grade class exclaimed brightly, waving their toys and other holiday gifts in the air. On Wednesday, December 18, 2024, the Mount Vernon Lady Knights Varsity Basketball team committed a great act of kindness at Edward Williams School; serving first and second-grade students and staff breakfast and delivering special gifts for Ms. Simon’s students during the Pancake Pajama holiday party.

Engaging Our Young Citizens: Student council election experience at Edward Williams School 

Students at Edward Williams School stepped into the shoes of voters as part of an engaging mock election event. From pre-K through eighth grade, students learned the importance of civic responsibility in a hands-on, engaging way. On Student Council Election Day on November 5, students from third through eighth grade cast their votes in makeshift voting booths.

Edward Williams School celebrates Cultural Day

Edward Williams School students and staff wore cultural attire from countries around the world as they celebrated Cultural Day on Friday, October 18. 2024. Children draped themselves in their flags to celebrate their heritage, while learning about their classmates' cultures as well. 

NMHZ students learn about PBIS at assembly

Sixth grade class at Edward Williams School learns how to find the area of shapes

Clarice Cruz’s sixth-grade math class at Edward Williams School has been learning about geometric principles during their lessons, and they continued this work with hands-on activities on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. In this class, they worked on finding the area of parallelograms and triangles using geoboards and rubber bands.
